Flowers, Flowers Everywhere Blog Hop - Day 2

Let me start my post by saying HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY everybody!!!!! Even if you are not a mother like me, you are still very important to people like your nieces, nephews and children you come in contact with!

I hope you had a wonderful day hopping yesterday and are back today for some more ideas. If you missed yesterday you still have time to catch up.You should have arrived from Peanut Butter and Jelly Designs by Michelle. I just love seeing her projects. If not, you can start at the beginning with our WONDERFUL and FABULOUS hostess Kathryn at Creations With Kathryn.

With yesterday's projects I got to play with my new I-Rock. Today I also used some new things for me.

Last year I taught 2nd grade. This year I am subbing because the school district did not have enough money to be able to keep me on. I am actually finishing out the year for a teacher. I now have 3rd graders. Nine of them are mine from last year. They reminded me that last year I had them make something for their mothers for Mother's Day and they wanted to know if I was going to again. I couldn't say no, so I had to find something to do quickly. Since we try to instill the love of reading to our students, I thought it would be a nice idea them to make bookmarks for their mothers. I remembered seeing a corner bookmark tutorial on YouTube by Beyond the Fringe Crafts. I pulled  the stuff together and took it to school. We made bookmarks on Thursday!

I then came home and totally changed what I was doing for today and made 2 more bookmarks!
Bookmark 1
This is the bookmark I had all my students make for their mothers. We even made one for our Principal and Assistant Principal for Mother's Day!
I used Soft Peach Weave paper from LaRayne Miller and Keeping Memories Alive, Inc. The students could pick from different colors of paper from the same company. The stamp is one I got for $1 at Michaels.

Bookmark 2

I didn't like the thickness of Bookmark 1, so I looked for another tutorial on YouTube. I found one by The Hybrid Chick. I used a piece of blue paper from Creative Memories Energetic Collection (at least that is what the package said), The stamp is one I got as Blog Candy from someone. Sorry, I don't remember who. :( I have been wanting to use markers. I found some at Michaels - cheap - by Artist's Loft. This was my first time using them. I see everyone using Stickles. I bought this blue Glitter Paint (in the $1 bin) at Michaels. It is by Studio G. This also was my first time using it. I inked the edges using the Michaels $1 Studio G ink in blue. (Do you see a pattern here?)

Bookmark 3

I still did not like the thickness of the bookmark. I decided to design one on my own. I think I like what I have come up with. Using some generic cardstock that I purchased at Scrap Book Garden - West in Wichita, Kansas, I cut a piece 2"x6". I used some scrap paper and cut a 2.5" square and then cut it in half.
I folded the ends to try to meet at the halfway point of the strip. I used the paper cutter to even the bottom. I then used my ATG gun to put the paper on each side. I used the same stamped flower that I used on my student's bookmarks and used my Artist's Loft markers to color. I used my I-Rock to add bling. The flowers are on both sides of all bookmarks.

This bookmark seems to fit the best. It is not too bulky.

If my friend Jamie McGuire happens to see this post, YES I am using Providence to display the bookmarks. Jamie is the author of this book and is from my hometown of Blackwell! You can find information about her book at http://www.jamiemcguire.com.

I hope you have like what I have done for you. Please enjoy the rest of the hop. You should now be headed to the very talented, PammieJo's Scrapbook Flair.

Don't forget I have a chance for you to win some Blog Candy!

Since this is a 2 day hop, you will have 2 chances to win. Make sure you check my post from yesterday. My drawing will be open to Monday, May 9th. A winner will be chosen sometime Tuesday. To be eligible to win you need to:

Very cool!!! I love those book marks. I need to make me several. I have so many books that I am reading that I run out of book marks and always fold my pages back. I hate that cause it ruins the pages.TFS
