Rest In Peace Dorothy Lewis

Wow, I just get back on and my whole world changes - especially my husband's. My mother-in-law passed away Thursday. It was pretty much unexpected. My heart just breaks for my husband. He was an only child.

Wow

Wow, I can't believe I have not checked in since the beginning of February. I have been busy.

My oldest niece is playing in the State Basketball tournament. Her team will be playing this week in the Area Tournament. They were the #1 seed at districts and won. The team we play Thursday already beat us, but we had several players sick and out for various reasons. Thursday we are gonna want revenge.

On Valentine's Day a teacher fell at school and broke her ankle in 3 places. She had to have surgery. They put in a plate and 8 pins. She is out for a while. The school contacted me and I am subbing for her. I have been there a week and still have a minimum of 2 weeks to sub.

Needless to say, my life is interfering with my crafting. I really need to get going again. Mom is wanting to look for some spring craft shows. If anyone knows how to look for some, please let me know. I loaned my sister my pint ATG gun so she could make Valentine's for the nieces. I don't have it back. She is still using it. I guess I need to make a trip to Wichita and pick up another one. She said she would pay for it and for more tape as she used what was on my gun and the box of spare I sent with her.

Well, this subbing is wearing me out. The weather has gone from -20 to 80 to now 32. I just want to snuggle with the Boyz on the couch. Soccer season has started. Vince has reffed 15 games since Thursday and still has 5 or 6 this week. With him being gone all the time, you would think I could find the time to craft.

Talk to ya'll soon,

Flaunt It Fridays #10 - Indie Arts

This is the challenge at Flaunt It Fridays for this week...
" For this week's challenge we are asking you to make something with the INDIE ART cartridge and the cut choice this week is the LIPS . You can create anything you want and for an extra challenge try to challenge yourself to create something different from last week's project. If you do not own this cart feel free to use any similar cut from any cartridge, you have one week to enter the challenge."

I do have this cart as it was a freebie with my Christmas Gypsy! I made a Valentines Card this week.

Recipe
*Lips cut at 2 inches from Indie Art
*Lips - red scrap with a glitter paste made of DecoArt Triple Thick Brillian Brush-On Gloss Glaze and Martha Stewart Cherry Popsicle glitter
*Shadow - bright pink scrap
*Seal - Free Digistamp from Digital Delights colored with Crayola colored pencils (since I don't own any markers)
*Sentiment - I have very few stamps, so I made a rub-on from a tutorial I saw at The Paper Boutique.

I had my 5 year old niece - Heidi on Saturday. She wanted to play with my cricut. The little stinker knows what buttons on the gypsy to push to make it cut. She knows how to load the paper. Her favorite part is taking off our cutouts. She made 2 of these cards while she was here. One card is from her mom and dad and the other card is for Grandma and Grandpa. She was so excited that she smeared the rub-on running back and forth to show Uncle Vince. She decided she needed a desk in my craft room and had Uncle Vince bring in a TV tray to put beside me. She found a stool and got right to work. She wanted to add more to the inside of the card and used the free digistamps Big Heart by D2D at Delightful Inspiration and Heart Gumball Machine at Little Scraps of Heaven Digital Designs.

And We Have a Winner!!!!!!

Thank you all for your wonderful comments. I had so much fun doing this blog hop and look forward to doing more.

I used my Random.org generator to pick a winner. I don't know how to post the pic yet.

And the winner is...

Sports Mania Blog Hop

Welcome to the Sports Mania Blog Hop. If you are coming from Jen's Scrapping at the McCalley House, then you are at the right spot. If you just happened to come across my blog and would like to start at the beginning, then head on over to Kathryn's Creations With Kathryn.

I am so excited to be here. This is my first time to participate in  a Blog Hop. I was happy to learn that it was a sports theme. My nieces are involved in cheerleading - high school and competitive, basketball, soccer, cross country, pole-vaulting, hurdles, mile relays... They keep me on the go watching their competitions. I knew I would have no trouble coming up with a project.

I made 2 different binder clip picture holders for my niece Holly.
<3 My Team!
Holly's team won the Morrison Invitational and the North Country Invitational in January. Her team had not won an invitational in like 18 years. Not only did they win one, but they won two. I decided to take their team picture and make a holder.
*<3 MY team - Sports Mania cut at 2 inches.
*Shadow is black cardstock I had on hand.
*Words are in orange cardstock.
*I mixed Triple Thick Brilliant Bursh-On Gloss Glaze and Martha Stewart Orange Sorbet glitter together to paint on the heart. I got this idea from Linda at The Paper Boutique. She has a tutorial Making Glitter Paste That Will Not Flake Off. I could not find the stuff she used, but the Triple Thick seems to work just fine for me. I purchased it at Hobby Lobby.
She Shoots She Scores!
Just last weekend Holly was fouled while shooting. She made the basket and the extra point. Holly made the first points of the game for either team!!
*She Shoots She Scores! - Basketball Solutions cut at 2 inches

*Shadow is black cardstock I had on hand.
*Words are in orange cardstock.
*scores & she - same glittler paste at the <3

My mother found some 9x6 clipboards at Staples. She knew my middle two nieces (ages 10 & 5) would love the clipboards. They are always looking for something to draw on at their house. I asked if I could alter the clipboards. She was happy to oblige. She then went and bought two more so I could make one for my other two nieces (ages 16 & 2).

Basketball Clipboard
Hannah (10) also plays basketball. Her rec season just finished and she is getting ready to play on a traveling team. I made 2 of these - one for Holly and one for Hannah. (Heidi and Henley's are made out of Pink and Black Zebra Print Paper.)
*9x6 clipboard - from Staples
*Basketball paper - from Hobby Lobby
*Black paper - from Hobby Lobby
*Glossy Modge Podge
* Brown ribbon from - Hobby Lobby

Asking for Prayers!!!!

The 12 year old daughter of two of my friends from OK is in the hospital in critical condition with bacterial pneumonia. It has attacked her lungs and heart and they have life support today because she can't get enough oxygen. Shawn, Julie, and Cameron could use your prayers, positive healing thoughts, or whatever else you might personally do at a time like this. Thank you.

This nightmare started late Saturday night. Her aunt posted this on FaceBook this morning...
"Thank you all for your continued prayers for Cami. There really is no change except that she has no circulation going to her toes and they are turning black. Please keep the prayers going, they are helping not only her but giving strength to my family."

Her father just posted this...
"Cameron needs prayers for her beautiful feet and toes, she is really lacking circulation, her Dr was honest with us and said to save her there will be some give and take!! Thank you so much for your prayers, her lungs are very very sick and your prayers are pulling her through this!! Once again thank you all!!"

Please add the Martin family to any of your prayer chains. They need all the warriors they can get.

2011 Stylish Blogger Award

Oh WOW! Oh WOW! Boy am I in shock. Kathryn at Creations With Kathryn has given me the "2011 Stylish Blogger Award". I can't believe it. I have only been doing this for a little over a month. I am honored. Thank you so much Kathryn!
Upon receiving this award I must:
1) thank the person who gave this award to me and link it back to their blog
2) share 8 things about myself
3) pass this award to 8 other individuals that I have recently discovered
4) leave a comment so that they can pass along the recognition!

Ok, 8 things about myself...
1.  I attended 4 colleges in 4 years and it only took me 4 years to graduate.
2.  I love to sing - even sang professionally 10 years ago, but will NOT karaoke.
3. I am not an  outdoor person, but I love to go camping, boating, and jet skiing.
4.  Growing up in Blackwell, Oklahoma I would watch "Uncle Bill and Woody Read the Sunday Comics" every Sunday morning before church on TV (produced in Wichita, Kansas).  On August 11th, 2001, Uncle Bill (Reverand William Boyle) married my husband and I.
5.  I HAD  to get married on August 11th - even planned my whole wedding in less than 3 months.
6.  The reason I had to get married on August 11th was because my parents were married on June 11th and my sister and brother-in-law were married on July 11th.
7.  I have never been to Las Vegas. I would love to go sometime.
8.  My cousin Michelle Hurd (The Glades, E.R., Law and Order, etc) is married to Garret Dillahunt (Raising Hope, The Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles, Burn Notice, etc).

Now for the hard part, choosing 8 blogs to pass this award onto. There are several that deserve this, but I can only pick 8. My picks for the "2011 Stylish Blogger Award" are...
1.  Carley - The Real iCarley
2.  Linda - The Paper Boutique
4.  Becka - Creations With Becka
5.  Cindy - In Love With Paper
6.  Mary - MareBear Scraps
7.  The Queen  - The Scrapbooking Queen
8.  Pam - Simply Pam

This Is A Test

I am just checking how to do scheduled posts.

Sports Mania Blog Hop - Super Bowl Sunday

Kathryn over at Creations With Kathryn is hosting the Sports Mania Blog Hop on Super Bowl Sunday - February 6th!!!

I am sooooo excited to be a part of it. This will be my first time to participate in one. It is gonna be one crazy day - Blog Hop, Church (I am Director of Music) and Super Bowl. My team is there again this year - GO STEELERS!!!!!!!!! You can guarantee I will be wearing my Troy Polamalu #43 jersey.

This hop is on Sunday, February 6th and  is a Super Bowl  "Sports Mania" themed hop. So the projects will be related around the sports theme. This will help some of us who are not really into the Super Bowl have more creative things to watch.

Kathryn is offering up a full cricut cartridge as Blog Candy. I am sure there will be other candy offered along the way.  I may even come up with a little candy myself.

See ya'll Sunday!
